Gary, Indiana

These pictures were sent to me by a member, I think they really depict the status of the area and not just the buildings themselves. Thanks a lot Dwayne!

If you have and pictures, thoughts etc... please send them to me at ghettoamericablog@gmail.com

Think about doing a book. I know it's trying to make money off the misfortune in our society; but maybe you could open the eyes of people to how the "other half still lives"

As a kid from a small town in Michigan, I remember being in awe of Gary as we drove through it on I-94 in the early 60's, headed to Wisconson to see family every summer. All the steel mill smoke hanging in the air, the hundreds of row houses with cars sitting in front of them... covered with soot. We now occasionally take the old electric train from from Mi. City to Chicago, and go right through much of those same now-abandoned industial areas. It's very sad to see how we as a country have allowed things to get so bad...

Used to live in the area. If memory serves that house in the last two pics is (was) one of those Frank Lloyd Wright houses they were trying to save. Too late.
